Description

The MechMan 6 phase hairpin high output alternator for Toyota Supra 2JZ offers a solution to the inadequate alternator that comes from the factory on these vehicles. This unit features twin rectifiers with (12) massive press fit diodes, as compared to the small (8) diode rectifier in the stock alternator. Even mild performance builds will typically consume more amperage than what the stock Supra alternator can provide. Hairpin stator technology provides better high RPM durability, and better resistance to heat from the turbo manifold. This unit uses a high RPM friendly larger diameter pulley, and bolts directly in place of the OEM alternator. NOTE: A 4 gauge or larger positive and negative cable needs to be run between the alternator and the battery terminals for proper function.

MAX RPM speed of Alternator is 22K-24K

Each alternator is build to order and can take 4-5 days to ship.

NOTE: If using Aftermarket Crank Damper (ATI 6.187" , Fluidamper 6" or TitanV2 6")
Please use our 3" or 3.5" for the ATI 6.187" Damper to correct Alternator speed.
Please use our 2.9" for the Fluidamper 6" and Titan V2 6" Damper to correct Alternator speed for High RPM / HP.
All alternators come with 2.4" pulley and is used with 8000RPM or less

How to Determine Ratio and Rotor Speed

The alternator rotor RPM is not necessarily the same as engine RPM. To calculate the actual alternator RPM, determine the ratio between the two pulley diameters.

Ratio = Crankshaft Pulley Diameter/ Alternator Pulley Diameter

Now that we know the ratio, we can now determine the rotor speed:

Rotor RPM = Pulley Ratio x Engine Speed
(example; 2.1 x 870 = 1827 Rotor RPM)

Tech Tip
Generally, For drag racing, the alternator should be overdriven by a ratio of 1.75:1 or more. This will allow charging on the return slip and in staging. For street use, we recommend 3:1.
